The Space Journey

The queens walk under these skies. Every stop on this journey moves: click any picture and watch it come alive, then take the print home from Fine Art America.

Supernova Bloom, a violet and gold supernova explosion, original space artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Stop One, Supernova Bloom

Abstract, Deep Space

A star dies the way it lived, in light. Violet and gold fire at the moment of the bloom, embers and newborn dust riding the blast outward, the seeds of future worlds scattered across the dark.

Event Horizon, a black hole accretion disk of fiery orange plasma around a pure black center, original space artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Stop Two, Event Horizon

Abstract, Deep Space

The edge of a black hole, the last line light ever crosses. A ring of burning plasma circles the dark in perfect silence, close enough to touch the end of everything and still be beautiful.

Neutron Star Merger, two neutron stars colliding in a disk of molten gold and violet fire, original space artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Stop Three, Neutron Star Merger

Abstract, Deep Space

Two dead stars, one last dance. They spiral together trailing molten gold, and in the flash of their merging the universe forges its heaviest treasures. This is where gold is born.

Galaxy Collision, a gold spiral galaxy and a blue violet spiral galaxy colliding, original space artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Stop Four, Galaxy Collision

Abstract, Deep Space

Two galaxies, one embrace. A gold spiral and a blue violet spiral reach for each other across the dark, and where their arms meet, new stars ignite.

Black Hole Vortex, a swirling vortex of violet and gold plasma around a black hole, original space artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Stop Five, Black Hole Vortex

Abstract, Deep Space

Seen up close, a black hole is not still. Her disk is a vortex, violet and crimson fire braided into gold, every lap of the spiral the last light that matter will ever give off.

Tidal Disruption, a star being torn into a ribbon of fire by a black hole, original space artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Stop Six, Tidal Disruption

Abstract, Deep Space

A star wanders too close, and the black hole unmakes her, stretching her into a ribbon of fire that feeds its flare. Astronomers call it a tidal disruption. We call her the Star Eater.

The Violet Reaches, a violet ringed planet with her moons and a spiral galaxy, original space artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Stop Seven, The Violet Reaches

Abstract, Deep Space

A violet giant turning in the quiet country past the bright neighborhoods of her galaxy, rings spread wide, her moons for company, the asteroids drifting like slow snow.

The Ice Geysers, a frozen moon spraying a tower of glittering ice crystals beneath a violet and gold ringed giant, original space artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Stop Eight, The Ice Geysers

Abstract, Deep Space

On a frozen moon, the buried ocean throws its voice straight up, a tower of glittering ice crystals fountaining in silence into the black, beneath the ringed giant she belongs to.

The Ember World, a molten lava planet with rivers of fire and lava falls beneath a huge red dwarf sun, original space artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Stop Nine, The Ember World

Abstract, Deep Space

A world still being born, black crust cracked open, rivers of molten rock pouring over cliffs in falls of living flame, under a red dwarf sun that fills the sky.

The Golden Spiral, a road of golden light spiraling up through violet clouds and moons to a great ringed planet, original space artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Stop Ten, The Golden Spiral

Abstract, Deep Space

A road of golden light climbs in slow, patient spirals through violet cloud and drifting moons, and at the top of the climb it threads the glittering rings of the giant, and goes on.

The River Between Worlds, a river of golden light winding between planets around a great ringed giant, original space artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Stop Eleven, The River Between Worlds

Abstract, Deep Space

Out where the worlds gather, a river of golden light pours through the dark from world to world, curling once around the great ringed giant, and going on. The worlds are not alone anymore.

Where the Tree Becomes the Worlds, the great tree of golden light dissolving into planets, original space artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Stop Twelve, Where the Tree Becomes the Worlds

Abstract, Deep Space

Travel the river far enough and the Tree lets go of being a tree: her branches of light open, and the worlds are hanging in them like fruit. The video plays the whole trip, Tree first, then the River.

The journey is not finished. New stops are being charted, and each one will move the way these do.

Space Cats, Cosmic Journey

The studio's own crew is out there too. Cinnamon and Jasper, two rescue cats from Sacramento, are making the trip in three parts, and every part moves: click any picture and watch it come alive, then take the print home from Fine Art America.

Cinnamon and Jasper, The Space Cats, a ginger cat and her gray tabby brother floating among the stars in space helmets around one small glowing star, original artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Part One, The Space Cats

Space Cats, Cosmic Journey, Part 1

Two rescue cats from Sacramento have officially seen more of the universe than any astronaut. Cinnamon, the ginger, leads the expedition the way she leads everything, paws first. Jasper, her gray brother and lifelong shadow, floats at her side, and between them hangs one small star, close enough to bat, which is of course the entire mission plan.

Cinnamon and Jasper, The Space Cats, First Landing, two cats in astronaut helmets sitting on the Moon with paw prints trailing through the dust, looking back at Earth, original artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Part Two, First Landing

Space Cats, Cosmic Journey, Part 2

The Space Cats have landed. Cinnamon and Jasper, two rescue cats from Sacramento, have touched down on the Moon, paw prints trailing through the dust behind them, and stopped the way all explorers stop, to look back at home.

Cinnamon and Jasper, The Space Cats, The Long Way Home, two cats riding home in the cozy cabin of a little brass and wood rocket, Earth and a purple and gold nebula in the great bubble window, original artwork by Merci Web Design Studio ▶

Part Three, The Long Way Home

Space Cats, Cosmic Journey, Part 3

Every voyage turns for home in the end. Cinnamon and Jasper are riding the long way back in the cabin of their little rocket, helmets still on, because some habits of exploration are too cute to break. Jasper keeps watch at the bubble window, tall at his sister's side, and Cinnamon leans on him, perfectly content to let him steer.
